Australian singer Kylie Minogue is in a complete awe of Akshay Kumar. She signed up for Hindi film “Blue” not just to get a taste of India and Bollywood but also because she is apparently a huge fan of action star Akshay Kumar . “Kylie is a big Bollywood buff. She has done her homework and has seen lots of our movies. And she’s a huge Akshay fan. She’s seen lots of his films. I think she was at the premiere of ‘Chandni Chowk To China‘ in London. The comfort level between them comes from the fact that Kylie knows Akshay’s work,” the director said. “It started when Kylie watched ‘Chandni Chowk To China ‘. She was completely hooked to Akshay’s antics. In fact one of her main incentives for accepting ‘ Blue‘ was the opportunity to meet up with Akshay.

When she decided to do the film and the date for her arrival was confirmed, she made inquiries about Akshay’s schedules and his availability,” said a source close to the film. Apart from shaking a leg for director Anthony D’Souza’s “Blue”, she’s also fallen in love with all things Indian and has even draped a sari for a part of a song.”She wanted to go through the full India experience, including the khaana (food), wedding and of course the Taj Mahal and Jaipur,” the source added. She’s also able to match steps with her Bollywood co-stars. Kylie will be seen shaking legs with his favorite star in the movie. She has charged US $ 1 million for her performance in the film. Apart from Akshay and Kylie, “Blue ” also stars Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta.

Riya Sen is 'The Man' cover girl!

Riya Sen is ‘The Man’ cover girl!

Posted on 26 Mar 2009 at 7:22am

Riya Sen, the hot and sexy daughter of Moon Moon Sen, figures on the covers of The Man. The 28 year old actress famous for her on-screen kisses and darling of many Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Bengali apart from Hindi created ripples with her semi nude pose in Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar’s 2004 edition.

But, this controversial model who opposes all the conservative ideas of Bollywood, somehow kept her control while posing for The Man.

Knowledge of Kathak, Kick boxing, belly dancing and education from NIFT fetched her a special place in Bollywood. Her romantic traits crowned her with two gossips involving John Abraham and Salman Rushdie, but just fizzled away probably due to her intimate MMS clips with her real boyfriend Ashmit Patel.

This chocolate girl, who likes being seen in Bikini and enjoying the onscreen romance is no doubt a sex symbol who also figured ninth on Femina 50 Most Beautiful Women in 2007.

So, this Love Khichidi girl’s appearance in The Man is sure a welcome news for the ever hungry male fraternity.

Shahrukh gets back to work

Posted on 26 Mar 2009 at 1:15am

After a brief rest, Shahrukh Khan gets back to work. He has resumed the shooting of his best friend Karan Johar’s directional venture, ‘My Name Is Khan’ opposite Kajol. Shahrukh Khan has undergone shoulder surgery and doctors have advised him rest for minimum four months but against doctors advise, he has resumed shooting after a short gap.

SRK ensures that he will shoot only light scenes that will not put much stress on his shoulder. Since his shoulder is not properly healed, SRK takes painkillers before shooting and in between does physical exercise for shoulder.

Shahrukh Khan confirms that his arm will take another four to five months to make well fully. He will stay away from any stunts for at least six months or may be more. Everything depends on how his shoulder heals.

In spite of shoulder surgery, Shahrukh did not stay away from media glare and made appearance in Filmfare events and even actively taking part in the IPL.

India’s other Oscar Story

Posted on 22 Feb 2009 at 2:22am

Everybody seems to be talking of Slumdog Millionaire and its hopes of bagging a couple of Oscars. But there is another little Indian story, which is also hoping to create history at the Oscars. The film in concern is American documentary filmmaker Meg Mylan’s Smile Pinki.

This year there will be two films with Indian protagonists. It seems to be an Indian season at the Oscars. Mylan’s Smile Pinki has been nominated in the Short Documentary section. Mylan’s film deals with a little girl who has a cleft lip. The 40 minute documentary details how Pinki’s life changed after a global initiative called Smile Train performed a free cleft removal operation. Mylan, recounts how she seemed to be destined to come to India and make a film. An independent filmmaker, she says that she has never allowed anyone to dictate the kind of subjects she should make a film on but when she was shown the work which was being done by doctors in India on cleft lips by Smile Train, she was intrigued enough to give it a shot. What really surprised the filmmaker was the kind of ostracism that people with cleft lips faced in India. Smile Pinki has been shot in Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh. The director was based in Varanasi and would travel two hours everyday for a period of three weeks, the duration it took her to complete the film as she did not want to burden the villagers by staying with them. The director is not new to the Oscars. Mylan was a part of the feature documentary, Long Night’s Journey Into Day, which was nominated for best feature documentary in 2000, but failed to clinch the Oscar. She may just have turned lucky this time with Smile Pinki. After all, India is the flavour of the season.

Katrina finds new love

Katrina finds new love

Posted on 20 Feb 2009 at 10:02am

Serene beauty Katrina Kaif is flying high these days with one after another hit. Now she has developed a new love for speed. Very few know that Kat has a great fascination for cars. Katrina says, “I always had a passion for cars. I loved the thought of owning luxury cars. I told myself that the day I’d earn money I’d buy expensive sports cars.”

Today Katrina is hitting the headlines for her role in Rajneeti where she is playing the role of congress president Sonia Gandhi. In this film, Kat will get enough scope to showcase her acting talent. To fit to the role, she has undergone voice modulation also. She will be in ‘never seen before’ avatar with devoid of glamour. A clipping of Kat playing Sonia has been leaked in the media where she is looking very simple wrapped in saffron sari therefore donning the look of a perfect politician.

At present she is shooting with Ranbir Kapoor for Rajkumar Santhosi’s Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahini.

Shahrukh Khan speaks on naming his dog Aamir

Posted on 16 Feb 2009 at 7:00am

In the recent past, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan have fought on various issues. First they clash on number game then they took up Aamir naming his dog as Shahrukh another reason of brawl. Surprisingly, the doggy story does not end here, Shahrukh Khan further stretched the issue by expressing his feeling to name his dog as Aamir and to which his wife Gauri turned furious.

SRK gushed, “Gauri gets upset when I crack jokes about naming my dog Aamir. She thinks why should I bring myself down by doing or saying such things? I understand that she doesn’t want me to lose my dignity, but sometimes I think it is absolutely necessary as people ask for it.”

Shahrukh made an elaboration, “Aamir had said it was a joke that his dog was named after me… and I said if it was a matter of sense of humor, then my joke would have been that I also wanted to name my pets after Aamir, but my pets vehemently refused. My wife said people don’t understand your jokes, so please refrain from doing so… though I felt it was quite funny but I didn’t say it at that time. Nobody said anything about stooping low, etc. Stooping low would be a height joke.”

On number game, SRK replied, “I will confront Aamir and ask him why he said such a thing. I accept a lot of things, but I think this is not funny. When I say I am number one, I definitely don’t mean it in arrogance. I say it with a sense of humor and a sense of humility. But I guess it will take a lot for Aamir to understand that.”
